John   Ingle

American Actor. Ingle, who will best be remembered for his role as scheming patriarch Edward Quartermaine on the long-running ABC soap opera, ‘General Hospital’, taught drama at Hollywood High School, Beverly Hills High School, Occidental College, Los Angeles City College and UCLA. His students included Richard Dreyfuss, Nicolas Cage, Albert Brooks, Barbara Hershey and David Schwimmer. He retired from teaching and began mainstream acting, doing various guest appearances on such television shows as ‘The Golden Girls’ and ‘Night Court’ before landing his regular role on ‘General Hospital’. He also appeared on ‘Boy Meets World’, ‘Days of our Lives’, ‘The Drew Carey Show’, ‘The Land Before Time’ and ‘The Office’. On film he appeared in ‘Stitches’ (1985), ‘True Stories’ (1986), ‘Heathers’ (1988), ‘RoboCop 2’ (1990), ‘Death Becomes Her’ (1992) and ‘Batman & Robin’ (1997). In late 2008, he underwent treatment for a small section of melanoma on his scalp and was forced to wear a hat while onscreen to cover the bandage. Ingle, who was married to actress Grace-Lynn Ingle for over 50 years, died after battling cancer.
