Larry Haines

Actor. He was a prolific performer of television, stage and films in a career that spanned more than five decades. He is best known for appearing 35 years in the role of Stu Bergman on the soap opera “Search for Tomorrow”, for which he won two Emmy Awards. In addition, he received Tony Award nominations for his performances in the productions “Generation” (1965 to 1966) and “Promises, Promises” (1968 to 1972). Born in Mount Vernon, New York, Haines began his career in radio and appeared on numerous programs during the 1940s and 1950s. Among his other television credits are, “The Nurses”, “The Defenders”, “For the People”, “Maude”, “Kojak” and had a recurring role in the soap opera “Loving”. His film credits include “The Odd Couple” (1968) and the 1973 picture “The Seven-Ups”, as gangster boss Max Kalish. Among his other stage credits are “A Thousand Clowns” (1962 to 1963), “Twigs” (1969 to 1971) and “Tribute” (1978).
