FOUND A GRAVE

Actress. Born Virginia Leslie Gettman, she was raised in Los Angeles where she attended Hollywood High School. Her career in entertainment began as a model and cover girl which led to an uncredited part in the picture “Ziegfeld Girl” (1941). This was followed by her being put under contract with Columbia Pictures and her name change to Leslie Brooks. During the course of the 1940s, she rose from uncredited parts in the features “Yankee Doodle Dandy” (1942) and “The Talk of the Town” (1942), to more substantial roles often being cast as antagonistic women in such pictures as “You Were Never Lovelier” (1942), “Underground Agent” (1942), “Blonde Ice” (1948) and “Hollow Triumph” (1948). She married her second husband actor/turned land developer Russell Vincent and retired from acting (after appearing in roughly 25 films) to raised her family. In 1971, she returned to the big screen with a featured part in the picture “How’s Your Love Life ?” (1971) which was directed by Vincent.
