Thomas Pence

Outlaw and Member of the James Gang. During the Civil War, he rode with William C. Quantrill. He was in Samuels Depot, Kentucky with Quantrill when he was killed. On July 26, 1865, Bud, Frank James and some members of Quantrill’s Raiders surrended to Union forces at Samuels Depot and later on, he escaped from jail. In 1866, he and his brother fled to Kentucky after being identified as the robbers of the Liberty, Missouri bank at 2:00 pm on Feburary 13,1866. This became one of the nation’s first successful daylight bank robberies during peacetime.
