Born in Hendersonville, North Carolina, he along with his brother Benny, were identical twins. At 743 and 723 pounds and having 84 inch waists, the brothers were discovered by Life Magazine. They entered show business as carnival performers and appeared in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they were in a act playing trumpets and told jokes to 400lb go-go dancers. They also appeared as tag team wrestlers, did daredevil stunts in cowboy outfits, and rode mini-motorcycles. They were also mentioned in the Guiness Book of World Records. Billy died of injuries from a motorcycle stunt in 1979, in Niagara Falls, New York. Benny died in March 2001 at age 54. The two are buried together under a huge grave in Hendersonville with two mini-motorcycles etched onto it.
